Colour Your Home Happy

Last Updated on

Happiness can be easily associated with colors. Psychologists believe that certain color stimulates your brain which automatically releases happy hormones. So is the effect when you paint your house with these happy colors. With jobs and families that demands timely attention, choosing the right color for your home can ensure a happy environment for you and your loved ones! Explore how these colors can make a positive change in your life.

Red is associated with high energy and power.  Red signals courage, ambition and strength. It promotes alertness and speed, and connects us to our physical self. When there is too much red present, or if someone is sensitive to reds, they may experience feelings of irritation, anger or hostility. Hence choose this color to suit the personalities of your house. Use it as an accent color in your décor.

Green is said to be the most pleasing color of all. The colour of spring, invokes balance, refreshment and peace. Do bring home plants and herbs and experience their power of rejuvenating you.

Orange is a warm, inviting and joyful color. Feelings of sociability and happiness are associated closely.  It is both physically and mentally stimulating, so it gets people thinking and talking! If you love having people around the kitchen table, orange will keep them talking and eating for a long time. Please stay away from using orange in the kitchen, if you are trying to lose some weight!

Yellow brings mental clarity along with optimism and cheery attitude. It also promotes creativity. It also eases depression and promotes laughter(:)). However the downside is studies have shown that over-exposure to yellow, especially intense and deep yellows, can increase irritability, crying, hyperactivity, and can shorten tempers in babies and children (as well as adults).Less is more, they say!

Blue is associated with rest and calm. The colour of the sky and the tranquil sea, it can help balance hyperactivity in children and promote imaginative and intuitive thinking. However too much of blue can shift feelings of apathy, pessimism, or separation from others. Preferably, do not use blue in areas used for activity and play. Balancing blues with a warmer, more relational color is a great idea for gathering spaces in a home.

Violet stimulates the problem solving areas in our brain, and it promotes creativity, intuition and artistic ability, taking one to his own world of dreams and fantasy. With combined  strengths of both red and blue, violet communicates richness and sophistication. Few feel that overuse of violet may result in feelings of insecurity or suppression of emotions.
