The Essence of Color Theory

I understand your nostalgic recollection of your teacher's passionate discussion on color theory. Indeed, according to traditional color theory, red, yellow, and blue are considered the primary colors. These colors hold a special status because they cannot be created by blending other colors together.

Blue is indeed considered a primary color that cannot be derived from other hues.

So, let’s learn how can we create this primary color.

Breaking the Boundaries: The Journey of an Artist

Nonetheless, as I matured and embarked on my own artistic endeavors, I found myself experimenting with color combinations. One fine day, I created the vibrant shade of blue by harmonizing two distinct colors.

Because of its calm and soothing quality, blue is one of the world's most popular colours. Blue evokes a feeling of peacefulness and comfort, and is often used in the décor of bedrooms and living spaces. We enjoy blue in whatever form it takes in our home, whether it's blue colour schemes or hues of blue.

Blues come in a variety of hues:

  1. Light blues

  2. Dark blues

  3. Warm blues

and so on. The list goes on and on!

To make blue colour, you can mix the primary colours red and green in equal parts. However, this will not result in a true-blue colour but rather a shade of green. To make blue, you can mix the primary colour blue with other colours such as red, yellow, or white to create various shades of blue.

Some of the shades of blue that are commonly used are:

  1. Sky or Light Blue: Using the red and green combination we have our blue colour ready. Slowly add white colour to this blue colour to get your perfect sky blue colour.

  2. Dark Blue: Adding a small amount of purple, orange or black to blue colour makes it dark in shade. You can get shades like Navy blue, violet, electric blue and many more.

  3. Teal Blue: To make teal colour, simply add blue and green colours in equal proportion.

  4. Peacock Blue: Mixing royal blue colour with green will give you peacock blue colour.

I hope this response will help you create different shades of blue by combining two colours. Continue experimenting and using colour.
